A Journey to What Matters

Increased Alaska Native Art & Culture project grants — including ARTShops, museum partnerships, and artist resources as described under Project Grants on the WordPress site.

Program Overview

A Journey to What Matters represents an elevated commitment to Alaska Native Art and Culture. Supported directly through foundational partnerships, this grant significantly increases resources available to individual practitioners and culture bearers.

This program is specifically designed to bypass traditional academic constraints and directly empower hands-on artistic sovereignty. It funds materials, apprenticeships, artist-in-residence opportunities, and large-scale cultural artifact recreation.

The goal is clear: to ensure that the generational transfer of indigenous artistic knowledge is vibrantly sustained. We want practicing artists teaching emerging artists, right here in the community.
