“The First Alaskans Alaska Native Writing Fellowship allowed me to explore, learn, and dive deep into all of the cultural and environmental work in my home region, ultimately providing a learning opportunity beyond an understanding of craft. I appreciated the thoughtful feedback I received throughout the process, the relationships I built with the First Alaskans Institute team and my interviewees, and the opportunity to share stories that I care about statewide.

I respect First Alaskans Magazine a lot as a platform for sharing and uplifting Indigenous voices and stories and look forward to all the ways we may work together again in the future having moved into a permanent storytelling role in the Sustainable Southeast Partnership since this fellowship. Gunalchéesh, Háw’aa to First Alaskans Magazine and The CIRI foundation for this opportunity!”
