Alaska Native Art Writing Initiative

Supporting the development of written works, scholarship, and critical discourse centering Alaska Native art from an Indigenous lens.

Program Overview

The Art Writing Initiative is a unique grant designed to advance the literature, critical review, and academic exploration of Alaska Native art.

Indigenous art requires indigenous context. By directly funding writers, critics, and scholars, TCF ensures that Alaska Native art is documented, analyzed, and celebrated within the broader global arts discourse by the people who understand it best.

This initiative supports the publication of essays, critical reviews, exhibition catalogs, and deep-dive academic literature focusing on our regional artists.
